Vernon Democrats
  DNC State Democrats Young Democrats

Welcome to the Vernon Democratic Town Committee.

Mayor Ellen Marmer lost her bid for a third term as Mayor. The Republicans won everything they could. The Democrats who remain in elected office are there by virtue of "minority representation" rules. For example, each party runs eight candidates for Town Council, but twelve are elected.

Vernon is a "swing" town. Before exit polling, the national media posted stringers in town because as Vernon went, so went the State of Connecticut. Having control of Vernon's government swing from Democrats to Republicans and back again is nothing new in Vernon.

Democrats will work hard to help Democrats in the next election (There's an election every November in Vernon.) Democratic 2nd District U.S. Representative Joe Courtney will be running for re-election on the November 2008 ballot. Representative Courtney is Vernon's native son. Democratic State Representative Claire

Janowski will also be on the November 2008 ballot.
